Mystics select Lia Galdeira with the 19th pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft

New, comment

The Washington Mystics selected Lia Galdeira, a 5'11 guard with the 19th pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft.

Galdeira played three seasons at Washington State, averaging 20 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in the 2014-15 season before declaring herself as a pro. In the 2015-16 season, she played for Haskovo 2012 in Bulgaria where she averaged 22.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.

We have embedded a video of Galdeira scoring 33 points to lead the Cougars to a 70-64 upset over the Maryland Terrapins on November 29, 2014 above. As you can see from the video, Galdeira can score a bunch of points in a hurry. The Mystics can certainly use someone who can play in that type of a role.

More to come soon.
