Wizards vs. Pacers preview: Washington hosts Indiana as teams fight for playoff positioning

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Save for a loss against a shorthanded Bulls team and a win over a shorthanded Cavaliers team last week, the Wizards have held true to how many expected they would play after the All-Star break. Now the Wizards face their first real toss-up game and it could go a long way into determining the Wizards' playoff positioning.

Indiana comes into tonight's game having lost four of their last five, including a 108-101 loss at home against the Hornets last night. They're now the 7th seed, just 1.5 games ahead of Washington.

With a win tonight and losses from the Pistons (who face the Knicks) and the Bulls (who face the Rockets) the Wizards would vault up to the 8th seed, and be only half a game back of the Pacers for the 7th seed. But even if everything doesn't fall in place for the Wizards tonight, a win tonight is still very important. The Wizards and Pacers split their first two meetings this season, so whoever wins tonight gets the tiebreaker if the teams finish with the same record.
