Wizards vs. Nuggets final score: Washington collapses in the fourth quarter, lose fifth straight game 116-100

The Wizards led 83-75 after three quarters and it looked like they might finally break out of this four game slump. But in #SoWizards fashion, the Nuggets would outscore the Wizards 41-17 in the fourth quarter sending them home with their fifth straight loss, 116-100.

Otto Porter led the way for the Wizards scoring 23 points on 8-16 shooting. John Wall notched his 38th double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 assists. And Garrett Temple chipped in with 12 points in probably his best effort since the All-Star break.

The Wizards had no answer early for the Nuggets' backcourt of Emmanuel Mudiay and Gary Harris as the duo combined for 16 in the first quarter as Nuggets led 27-23 after one period.

Marcin Gortat missed a dunk to start the third quarter. That's how things would go for the big man as he scored just two points and was strapped to the bench, only playing eight minutes due to foul trouble.

On the other hand, Otto Porter took over in the third quarter. He scored in transition, was active on the offensive glass, and hit a key three-pointer as the Wizards would use a 10-0 run to stretch the lead to 10, 72-62 and lead 83-75 going into the fourth quarter.

The Wizards got run off the court in the fourth quarter as the Nuggets outscored them 41-17. The Wizards committed nine turnovers in the quarter as the once 10-point lead became a distant memory.

Tired legs, second night of a back-to-back, call it what you want; this team is in a all out free fall and that doesn't look to change anytime soon.

Fourth quarter collapse: The Wizards led 83-75 after three quarters. That's when the collapse occurred. The Wizards managed just 12 points in the first 9:30 of the fourth quarter as the Nuggets regained the lead 110-95 at the 2:30 mark to take control of the game. Might I add, the Nuggets made this run primarily with their backups in. The Wizards committed nine turnovers in the quarter, as the Nuggets would score 41 in the period to put the game to bed.

Wizards turn the Nuggets over: The Nuggets did everything they could to help the Wizards win this game. Chalk it up to a lack of focus, poor passing, and some opportunistic defense from the Wizards as they recorded 13 steals and forced 22 Nuggets' turnovers. For a majority of the first half, the Wizards had more steals than rebounds. The Wizards turned those 22 turnovers into 32 points but it didn't matter.

Otto Porter re-emerges for a game: Otto played his best game in weeks scoring 23 points on 8-16 shooting. Porter had five steals (four in the first half) and five rebounds to add to his impressive night. Otto did most of his damage in transition and put backs around the hole. But as we've seen before, Otto disappeared in the fourth quarter and didn't attempt a shot in the period.
