Wizards vs Pacers final score: Washington’s comeback falls just short in 107-105 loss

Thaddeus Young hit a tough floater with 0.9 seconds left, and Bradley Beal’s open look on the other end just missed as the Wizards fell on the road 107-105. Their close loss to Indiana snapped their three game winning streak.

Washington started the game on a 12-1 run, picking right up from where they left off in their big win against the Clippers on Sunday afternoon, thanks to hot starts from Bradley Beal and Otto Porter. Unfortunately, the momentum didn’t last long, as Markieff Morris picked up a pair of quick fouls that forced Scott Brooks to his bench earlier than he wanted.

The Wizards were able to tread water for the rest of the first quarter with the rest of the starters, but the tide of the game started to turn in the second quarter. Al Jefferson feasted on Andrew Nicholson and Daniel Ochefu, and the team’s bench fell back to earth a bit after some strong performances last week. As a result, the Wizards went into halftime locked up at 57 after holding a seven point lead to start the second quarter.

Beal picked up his fourth foul less than two minutes into the second half, which kept the Wizards from starting the second half with the same momentum they used to start the game. Washington couldn’t get into a rhythm offensively, and Jeff Teague caught fire on the other end, roasting Washington for 11 points and 3 assists in the quarter as the Pacers jumped out to a 9 point lead at the end of the third quarter.

Typically, this is where a team would start to pack it in on the second night of a back-to-back, but they made a late charge with Beal back in the game. He played all 12 minutes of the final frame, drew some key fouls, and hit a three with 15.6 seconds left to tie the game. However, the Pacers responded on the other end:

It wasn’t a win, but Washington was still able to carry over a lot of the good things they did during their winning streak at home. They’ll get another shot to get a statement win on the road on Wednesday as they take on the Bulls in Chicago.
