Going into the preseason, it was clear the Wizards were going to need to make some moves to trim down their roster to the NBA limit before the regular season began. According to David Pick, the Wizards are close to making their first move to trim the roster down:
The Washington Wizards will soon waive Villanova's winning center Daniel Ochefu, according to source.

Ochefu had a solid performance in his first and only outing with the Wizards, which came on Thursday against the 76ers. He had 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 20 minutes of action.
Unfortunately for Ochefu, he faced very difficult odds to make the team's final roster. The team already has three centers (Marcin Gortat, Ian Mahinmi, and Jason Smith) locked up in long-term contracts, and still have depth issues at other areas.
Considering this report comes from David Pick (a well-connected international hoops reporter) it's probably safe to guess Ochefu will wind up on a team overseas fairly quickly.
When the move is officially made, the Wizards will have 17 players left on the roster. Washington will need to waive at least two more players to get down to the 15 player maximum before the regular season begins.
