Randy Wittman to miss next two games due to the passing of his brother

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards announced that Randy Wittman will not be at the team's next two games against on the road against the Thunder and at home against the Warriors due to his brother passing away over the weekend.

Assistant coach Don Newman will take over head coaching duties for the next two games in Wittman's absence. This will be Newman's first time in a head coaching role since he was the interim head coach at Arizona State for the 1997-98 season. Since then, he has served as an assistant under George Karl, Byron Scott, Gregg Popovich and Randy Wittman.

Wittman will return to head coaching duties on Friday when the Wizards host the 76ers.
