John Wall Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

John Wall earned his fifth career Player of the Week Honor on Monday after leading the Washington Wizards to an impressive 3-1 record for his performance from January 11 to January 17.

During that time, Wall averaged 25.0 points, 9.8 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals while shooting 47 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point range. The only blemish on Wall's resume was that the Wizards could have been 4-0 if Wall could get those last 3.6 seconds back from Saturday's game against the Celtics.

Although Wall may not be named an All-Star Starter, he continues to play like one and make his own #WallStar statement across the league. Wall joins Marcin Gortat as the only Wizards with Player of the Week honors this season.

The two-time All-Star was the only player in the NBA to average at least 25 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals during the week. Wall led all Eastern Conference players in assists and steals and finished third in scoring and tied for third in rebounding among guards. In Washington's 114-100 win at Chicago on Jan. 11, Wall tallied 17 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and three steals. In the Jan. 13 matchup vs. Milwaukee, he finished with 19 points, eight assists, five rebounds, one block and one steal, helping Washington pick up the 106-101 victory. On Jan. 15 at Indiana, Wall recorded 28 points, 13 assists, seven rebounds and seven steals in the Wizards' 118-104 win. In the team's sole loss of the week on Jan. 16 vs. Boston, he became the first player since steals became a stat in 1973 to record 36 points, 13 assists, seven rebounds and seven steals in a game.
