On Monday, USA Basketball announced the 30 finalists for the 2016 Olympics men's national team roster. Two Wizards players, John Wall and Bradley Beal are part of the pool.
18 of the 30 players have participated in the 2012 Olympics and/or the 2014 FIBA World Cup. Neither Wall or Beal participated in these competitions, so it's unlikely that they will make the final Olympic team when it is announced later this spring.
Still, USA Basketball's selection process heavily depends on its players making a commitment to attend events each summer. Wall and Beal have done that over the past couple seasons, and it will not go unnoticed when it is selection time for either the 2016 Olympics or future FIBA tournaments.
The Olympics will be held on August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. USA Basketball will release a schedule of preliminary friendly games at a later date.
