Wizards training camp starts on Tuesday at Towson University. One of the major storylines at camp is how the wing rotation will shape out. However, injuries are making these decisions for the team as Alan Anderson may not be able to go full speed due to a left ankle injury according to J. Michael of CSN Washington.
The news isn't totally unexpected because Anderson had surgery in May to remove bone spurs in that same ankle. But it is still mildly frustrating because he, along with Jared Dudley were two players who were expected to help fill Paul Pierce's shoes. Pierce left the Wizards to sign a contract with his hometown Los Angeles Clippers.
There is a silver lining of sorts with both Dudley and Anderson not at full strength since both players aren't expected to be long term fits in D.C. The wing and small forward position, in particular, is quite stacked personnel-wise.
Otto Porter will have more minutes alongside the first unit after his excellent postseason performance. And rookie Kelly Oubre will also have a chance to get thrown into the pool so we can see how he does. Finally, Martell Webster will have a chance to get more playing time after an injury-riddled 2014-15 season.
