The NBA released the dates and times for NBA Summer League games on Tuesday. The Wizards' schedule is below:

Date Team Time (ET) Where
Saturday, July 11 Phoenix Suns 6 p.m. COX Pavilion
Sunday, July 12 D-League Select Team 4 p.m. COX Pavilion
Tuesday, July 14 Dallas Mavericks 3:30 p.m. Thomas & Mack Center

Last year the Wizards made the Vegas League's semifinals where they lost to the Sacramento Kings. Along the way, Otto Porter reassured us his potential and former Wizards player Glen Rice was the MVP of the league.

This year, the Wizards' Summer League team will probably have a considerably different look at the top. Porter is now entering his third season and I don't expect to see him on the roster. Barring a trade, the Wizards will be led by their 19th and 49th picks in this year's draft, along with a number of other players who are looking to get a training camp contract this fall.

Even though it's hard to say how well the Wizards will perform in the Vegas League next month, it still can be a useful experience for the team and its players. This is a time where we can see how the team's newest draft picks play in a competitive setting under NBA rules, where they will often be the go-to options. It's also a chance for some players to have a tryout of sorts, where they can see if they fit into the Wizards' system. You never know if they could fit well in a reserve role or as a midseason D-League call up in the months ahead.
