On Saturday, May 9, 2015, the Washington Wizards and Nationals MLB team hosted the Atlanta Hawks and Braves respectively. Both teams would win in walk-off fashion on the same day within a few minutes of each other.
At just after 7 p.m., Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Washington an 8-6 win over the Braves.
It has been an incredible week for Harper. He has hit 8-of-12 in his last three games, and he hit six home runs and drove in 12 runs in that time frame.
And just before 8 p.m., we saw Paul Pierce deliver a game-winning shot at the buzzer to lead the Wizards to a 103-101 win over the Hawks in Game 3 of their playoffs series. Here's a vine showing the madness from alongside the Wizards' bench:

Pierce has scored in double digits in each of the Wizards' seven playoff games, making key shots at key moments. That's why he's here in D.C.
It feels really good to be a D.C. sports fan, and it's really, really awesome to see that two teams won in a similar fashion against teams in the same city. It also seems like it is more than just a coincidence that both Harper and Pierce wear the number 34. I would imagine that this doesn't happen very often, but man! It feels really good to see that it did!
