Wizards vs. Hawks second half GameThread: Porter leads D.C. to a 45-41 halftime lead

Washington's winning, but it could be by a lot more than just four points.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Wizards are winning 45-41 at halftime over the Hawks. Otto Porter scored 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting to lead the way for D.C., while Paul Millsap has 13 points (and three three-pointers) for ATL.

There are two key stats in the game. First, it's shooting efficiency. Washington is making shots at a much higher rate than Atlanta (46.5 vs. 34.7 percent) AND they're winning the rebounding battle (28-18). Based on these stats alone, the Wizards should be blowing the Hawks out.

But turnovers once again are negating these advantages. The Wizards committed 14 so far and allowed the Hawks to score 11 points off of them. The Hawks only committed eight, and Washington has scored four points off of those.

If Washington can take care of the basketball and keep shooting at a decent rate, we should be having pancakes on Sunday. I'm not so sure about pizza.

Until then, comment away my friends!
