Wizards vs Heat preview: Washington heads to Miami for a showdown on ESPN

New, comments

With only two preseason games left Wizards travel to Miami to face Dwayne Wade and the Heat.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards beat the Milwaukee Bucks 105-101 on their home court on Saturday without John Wall, improving to 2-0 on the road this preseason, and 4-1 overall. It's a good result for all Wizards fans who are looking for subtle improvements during the preseason, especially in how they perform without John Wall on the floor. The Wizards have already shown growth in that area, even if this is only preseason play.

Wednesday night, they'll try to build on last weekend's success against their division foe, the Miami Heat.

Game Info

Where and when: The Washington Wizards return to action on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET against the Miami Heat in the American Airlines Arena.

TV: The game is on ESPN nationally, and that's your only option for the game. CSN Mid-Atlantic is not airing the game.

Radio: WNEW 99.1, Wizards Radio Network

Injury Report: After dishing out 14 assists in 21 minutes against the 76ers last Friday. John Wall missed the Wizards game against the Bucks that Saturday to attend the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light of the Night Walk for Miyah'sTroupe. He will take the court this Wednesday with the Wizards and match-up against Goran Dragic.

Jared Dudley has returned to practice and said he would be "shocked" if he doesn't play on Wednesday. Garrett Temple also returned to practice and could play against the Heat.

Martell Webster traveled to Nebraska this week for a second opinion on the hip that's kept him out all preseason, so he's out again. Alan Anderson is out indefinitely (ankle). It also looks like Nene and DeJuan Blair will miss Wednesday's game, according to J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic:

Things to watch for:

  1. Kris Humphries was 0-2 from the field on Saturday against the Bucks, and scored his only 2 points of the game on free throws. Not very Humpthrees-like. Josh Harrellson was also scoreless from beyond-the-arc on Saturday night, that should change with John Wall back in the starting lineup.
  2. Kelly Oubre Jr. defense has everyone’s attention, with 3 steals in Milwaukee and 3 steals in Philly. Let’s go for the trifecta in Miami.
  3. How well will the Wizards reserves play against Miami? Jaron Johnson had 5 points, Ish Smith dished out 5 assists and Jaleel Roberts had 2 points and 2 rebounds against the Bucks.
