Here's some fun recognition: John Wall was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week today.

Over the past three games, Wall has averaged 25 points, 10.7 assists and two steals per game on 59.2 percent shooting, and his assist average over the last week is tied for first in the NBA. These included the February 25 win over the Magicthe February 27 triple overtime win over the Raptors and the March 1 win over the Sixers. Over the Wizards' current six game winning streak, he is averaging 21.2 points, four rebounds and 10.8 assists per game while shooting 51.6 percent overall, and 43.5 percent from the three point line.

Wall was not the only Wizards player who was a nominee for this honor. Trevor Ariza was also nominated after averaging 26 points a game during their last three games. So was Marcin Gortat who averaged 21.7 points and 12 rebounds in the same time frame.

Still, it's really good to see that Wall has stepped up his game since the All-Star Break. If he can continue to play like this over the rest of the season and beyond, you can expect that Wall to be a regular recipient of this award for years to come.
