Magical Pixels, Wizards vs. Grizzlies: Bradley Beal almost wins by himself

He tried, but Bradley Beal was unable to single-handedly defeat the Memphis Grizzlies as the Washington Wizards fell back below .500 with a lazy 92-89 road loss.

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

Well, Bradley Beal showed up. The second year stud (whom we've all been a little hard on recently) scored a career-high 37 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome a horrendous game from John Wall and save the listless Washington Wizards from a 92-89 road loss to the depleted Memphis Grizzlies.

Beal was on fire the entire game, finishing 15-of-24 from the field, and 5-of-7 from three. No other Wizards attempted more than 13 shots. Meanwhile, Wall had one of the worst games of his career, finishing with just five points on 2-of-10 shooting, five assists and five turnovers. With Mike Conley out with a right ankle sprain, Wall got outplayed by Nick Calathas, who scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. This is the same Wall, by the way, who last season also scored his career-high 47 points against the Grizz (albeit at home). Criminy.

Nene had a decent game (17 points, 7-of-13 shooting), and Marcin Gortat was having one until he got into some early foul trouble and played only 22 minutes as a result, finishing 4-of-4 with 10 polints. Washington's bench provided only nine points.

The Wizards now face the streaking Rockets, who've won six straight, in their lone game before the All Star break. If last night was any indication, the Wiz might have gotten a head start on their time off.
