Well, Bradley Beal showed up. The second year stud (whom we've all been a little hard on recently) scored a career-high 37 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome a horrendous game from John Wall and save the listless Washington Wizards from a 92-89 road loss to the depleted Memphis Grizzlies.
Beal was on fire the entire game, finishing 15-of-24 from the field, and 5-of-7 from three. No other Wizards attempted more than 13 shots. Meanwhile, Wall had one of the worst games of his career, finishing with just five points on 2-of-10 shooting, five assists and five turnovers. With Mike Conley out with a right ankle sprain, Wall got outplayed by Nick Calathas, who scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. This is the same Wall, by the way, who last season also scored his career-high 47 points against the Grizz (albeit at home). Criminy.
Nene had a decent game (17 points, 7-of-13 shooting), and Marcin Gortat was having one until he got into some early foul trouble and played only 22 minutes as a result, finishing 4-of-4 with 10 polints. Washington's bench provided only nine points.
The Wizards now face the streaking Rockets, who've won six straight, in their lone game before the All Star break. If last night was any indication, the Wiz might have gotten a head start on their time off.

KEY STATS
32.4 - Percentage of Washington's shots against Memphis that were attempted by Beal. At least his teammates knew he was the only one with anything going.
0 - Wizards with more than six rebounds against the Grizzlies. The two Wizards to collect six boards (Gortat and Kevin Seraphin) each played less than 25 minutes.

Based on his 1stQ (4-4 FGs, 9 pts), Bradley Beal really is trying to change name of MEM's most famous street pic.twitter.com/zxhPXr0feh #wizards

Beal is on fire at this point. He could pee with his hands on his head while jumping up & down & not splash a speck outside the t-bowl.

Really think Wizards might be the third best team in the East right now. IT's close, but they're in the convo.

Wiz offense really struggling vs a depleted team. If you're surprised, you haven't been a fan for long.

On the other hand, John’s really driving me up a Wall.

The Wizards, with 11 seconds, failed over and over to get the ball to Beal, and settle for an unwise John Wall 3-pointer. Grizz win, 92-89.
