Wizards hire former 76ers GM Tony DiLeo as scout, according to report

DiLeo, a longtime member of the 76ers' organization in several capacities, was a casualty of new general manager Sam Hinkie's hiring.

The rebuilt Washington Wizards' front office has added another longtime NBA veteran to its mix. Tony DiLeo, the former Philadelphia 76ers' GM and head coach and a longtime member of the organization, will come aboard as a scout, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

DiLeo had been with the 76ers for over 20 years (!) before being let go as part of new general manager Sam Hinkie's front-office purge. He was the team's assistant general manager from 2003 to 2012, with a brief break to actually coach the team when Maurice Cheeks was fired in 2008. (He led the 76ers to the first round of the playoffs and had them up 2-1 on the third-seeded Magic before they fell apart). He then briefly took over as the head general manager for a year before Hinkie was hired.

DiLeo, then, has seen it all. He comes recommended from one of our 76ers bloggers at Liberty Ballers.

So that's cool. Hopefully, this leads to better drafting.
