Anthony Bennett, the talented UNLV forward that is reportedly near the top of the Wizards' draft board along with Georgetown's Otto Porter, cannot work out because he has a torn rotator cuff. However, the Wizards do need to get to know him before they consider picking him. He didn't attend the 2013 NBA Draft combine, preventing the Wizards from catching him there.
But Washington's brass will finally get the opportunity to speak to Bennett. He will be in town next week for an interview, according to CSN Washington's J Michael:
Anthony Bennett can't work out because of surgery to his left rotator cuff, but the forward is expected to be in town to interview with the Wizards next week, CSN Washington learned Friday.
These interviews give a team a glimpse into a prospect's personality, so they are very important. It's good that the Wizards and Bennett have found a way to connect.
Porter, as previously reported by Michael, will be in town for an interview next Thursday and a workout with Mason Plumlee and others next Friday.
