The Washington Wizards have selected Bradley Beal with the third pick in the 2012 NBA draft.
A 6'4 shooting guard from the University of Florida, Beal averaged 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists during his freshman season, after which he declared for the draft.
Beal brings with him a reputation as an excellent shooter, rebounder, and teammate, and is expected to form a dynamic young backcourt with former first overall pick John Wall.
Beal's reputation as an elite jump shooter made him an attractive prospect to a number of teams, as his shooting and versatility should allow him to blend seamlessly into almost any NBA offense. While Beal's three point percentage was an unremarkable 33.9% during his sole season of NCAA basketball, scouts are confident that his work ethic, textbook form, and high release point will lead to a career as one of the NBA's top shooters and scorers.
The Wizards still own the rights to the 32nd pick in the 2012 NBA draft, with more coverage and analysis to come as the draft progresses.
