It took long enough, but finally, Nene has passed his physical, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post. That means that there is officially no way back. The three-way trade that sent JaVale McGee to Denver and Nick Young to the Clippers is now officially done.

Nene won't play tonight vs. Memphis, though. Brian Cook, who was acquired in the deal as well, should be available for tonight's game. However, it sounds like he'll eventually be bought out. Via Lee:

A league source said the team would be willing to accommodate the veteran forward if he wishes to play elsewhere. Cook's agent Mark Bartelstein said on Saturday the two sides would likely engage in buyout discussions this week. Cook would first have to line up a landing spot.

We'll see about that one. Other notes:

  • The Wizards are expected to sign former Siena guard Edwin Ubiles from the D-League before the game. Scott Schroeder broke the news on Friday.
  • Gilbert Arenas is working out for Memphis and may sign there, according to Lee. It'll be fun to see Arenas in the league again, especially for that team. As much as his game has deteriorated, Memphis doesn't have a backup point guard, so it makes sense.
  • As for the former Wizards, Young seems overjoyed, while McGee is determined to prove he's not a loser. Young plays his first game today at 3:30 when the Clippers face Detroit.
