PREGAME READING: Orlando Pinstriped Post |
Let's get right to the big news of the day: the benching of Nick Young and JaVale McGee has continued. Both players will not be starting in tonight's game. The news came down after Randy Wittman's pregame address. When asked about his lineup then, Wittman said he hadn't made up his mind. He did say he wants the team to put last night's loss behind them.
"Last night's last night," he said. Every game is a learning experience. That's what last night was. We can't look in the past. We now have to look forward to what we're going to do here tonight."
Wittman added that he did talk to McGee after he missed the entire second half and said McGee was "fine."
"I talked to the team briefly, then we got on the plane and came back. I talked to him today. he's fine," Wittman said. "I said, 'Last night's game's over with. i need you to do what you can do.' That's how we got to approach it. Everybody has their ups and downs. Learning experiences are a valuable lesson in how you're going to digest it."
Other news:
- Andray Blatche was dunking before the game. When asked about when he might return, Wittman said he needs to see how Blatche responds in practice over the next couple of days. Blatche later said he's going to come back against the Cavaliers on Saturday.
- Rashard Lewis will not play again tonight.
