Bovada has released its annual over/under win total odds for the 2012-13 NBA season, and the Washington Wizards' number is set at 31.5 wins. That certainly seemed like a low number to me prior to John Wall's injury, and I still think it's kind of a low number. Put it this way: if the Wizards win less than 31.5 games this year, then I think the season will be classified as a failure even by Ted Leonsis' revised definition.
The Wizards' over/under win projection is tied with three other teams in the Eastern Conference: the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors. Only the Charlotte Bobcats (22.5) and the Orlando Magic (23.5) have lower over/under win projections in the East. In the West, only the Houston Rockets (30.5), Sacramento Kings (30.5) and New Orleans Hornets (24.5) are lower.
Perhaps there is something Las Vegas knows about this team that we don't. Or, perhaps oddsmakers are underestimating the team's fast finish to last season. Time will tell.
