Links: Washington Wizards drop preseason opener to Charlotte Bobcats

New, comments

In today's Washington Wizards links, the shorthanded Wizards drop their preseason opener to the Charlotte Bobcats, 100-88, despite good efforts from rookie Bradley Beal and free-agent acquisition Martell Webster.

When do the Wizards decide to hire a MASH unit? links:

  • Missing arguably their three best players, the Wizards struggled on both ends of the floor in their preseason opener, losing to the Charlotte Bobcats, 100-88. The Wiz got good efforts from Bradley Beal, Martell Webster and Shelvin Mack, but shot 33 percent from the field and sent the Bobcats to the line 46 times. They were also without John Wall, Nene, Emeka Okafor (who sat with some soreness following eight practices in five days) and Trevor Booker, so a poor performance isn't exactly surprising, but it's still disappointing. • It's okay though, because the Heat and Lakers also lost their preseason openers. Clearly the Wiz can expect results similar to these two teams throughout the regular season, amiright?? [SB Nation]
  • The Wizards next face the Knicks at home on Thursday, and it sounds like New York will be without Marcus Camby, who's expected to miss seven-to-10 days with a left calf strain. But don't worry, the Knicks have Rasheed Wallace, 38, and Kurt Thomas, 40, ready to step into Camby's 38-year-old shoes. [SB Nation | CBS Sports]
  • An injured Dwight Howard now thinks he's Iron Man and that Steve Nash is Captain America despite being Canadian. Thanks, Dwight. Thanks. [SB Nation]
  • Despite Dwight (wouldn't that be a great motto for the Lakers' season?), Nash and Kobe Bryant seemed to mesh well in their preseason loss to the Warriors. [Yahoo! Sports]
  • Oh no, Enes Kanter. Oh........no........ [SB Nation]
