Some (hopefully) good news, and some (definitely) not so good news

Ivan Carter gives an update on the Navarro sweepstakes:

Don't be shocked if the Wizards wind up trading the rights to Juan Carlos Navarro to Memphis on Friday for a first round pick.

Obviously getting rid of Etan's contract would've been the best outcome, but I think that more wishful thinking than anything.  If I'm thinking correctly (which I'm probably not) Memphis only has one first round pick -- theirs, so the Wizards would in effect be trading a 2nd round pick for what could very easily become a lottery pick.  Let's face it, does the addition of JC Navarro turn Memphis from cellar dweller to playoff team overnight?  I doubt it.  All in all, a pretty good second option for a trade in my opinion.

After that tip, Carter goes on to talk about the Blatche ordeal.  All sorts of interesting information, (anonymous) reactions, and other fun stuff.  In order to really get the full effect, you have to read it for yourself.  Needless to say, I'm significantly more concerned about giving a load of money to this kid.  As Prada noted, he's still very young and has room to grow and improve as a player and a person but it's quite apparent that he has reached a fork in the road.  He can either see this as a chance to prove that he is serious about his game and serious about getting bettter.  Or, he can join a growing list of players that wasted unlimited potential.  The choice is his.

However, let's not forget that Ernie Grunfeld is at a fork in the road as well.  He has the unenviable task of trying to figure out which path he thinks Andray will choose and then acting upon it.  Let's hope they both end up on the same road.
