Found this in a post on Hoops World Teams Looking to Trade First-Round Picks: Over the next few weeks, don’t be surprised if a large number of teams outside of the lottery try to trade their first-round pick. Multiple sources have told HOOPSWORLD that a lot of teams are trying to get rid their pick, which could make for an interesting draft night. "Almost everyone wants to get out of their pick in this draft," said one Western Conference executive. "For some teams, it’s hard to take on money for multiple years in this economic climate, especially if the player would not make an impact and help the team win immediately." That means contending teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder or Chicago Bulls may opt to trade their late first-round pick rather than draft a rookie who won’t really contribute (just like Reggie Jackson and Jimmy Butler this season). Expect plenty of trade rumors over the next several weeks.

The Reason Trevor Booker Has Not Played (and Kevin Seraphin)

It is because we do not want a consistent good defender down low, and a player with a very High Basketball IQ on the court. We just don't want it. The away game at the Lakers where Trevor and Kevin...

While plenty of media outlets are speculating about a potential deal between Cleveland and Phoenix, we’ve heard some talk of a possible trade between Cleveland and Washington actually. The deal would essentially be a cost-cutting move for the Wizards, sending Antawn Jamison and filler (Mike James) to the Cavs for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic. Wallace seems likely to retire, and Pavlovic is on a non-guaranteed contract for next season. It’s not clear whether the Wizards would need to surrender the #5 pick. Jamison is attractive to the Cavs since he’s exactly the type of combo forward they were missing to match up with Orlando’s Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu.

via Draft Express No, No, No, No, No, No, And.....NO! Draft Express does have some credibility, but this report leaves that in doubt with me. But if I were to give credence to this rumor for even a second, I'd have to assume that Grunfeld would have another move up his sleeve to make the team better. But if Jamison were to be sent to the Mistake By The Lake as purely a cost-cutting move, I can't even begin to describe how pissed I would be. -TAI

Mike Jones (who?) wants you to chill on the JaVale McGee trade rumors

"I have it on very good authority that there is no truth to this whatsoever. Perhaps OKC has interest in McGee, which would make sense, but that doesn't mean the teams have had discussions. Often, I'm told, teams will throw rumors out there to get counterparts to nibble, thus starting up some discussions. The Wizards are very happy with McGee and believe he will blossom into a multiple All-Star. Trading McGee would also put the Wizards on the market for another center of the future and backup to Brendan Haywood, because Etan Thomas is injury prone and has an expiring contract the Wizards would like to move. II'm also hearing that the Wizards aren't at all interested in James Harden, believing that the Arizona State guard lacks the expolosiveness, athleticism and ball-handling skills that they're looking for."

Praise for JaVale McGee from a Kings Fan

A commenter on SacTown Royalty, twasserm, an obvious Kings fan and east coast dweller who went to Sunday's game, had some nice praise for JaVale McGee: If Javale McGee were on the Kings, we would all love him. He’s a skinny but really athletic big who plays with the same expression on his face that Donté has on his. A few calls went against him and he didn’t sulk or let the frustration affect how he played. When McCants hugged him on the break and McGee made a circus shot anyway, you could tell how much all of his teammates loved the guy. He’d be like last year’s Mikki Moore with better hands, upside, a future, and a rookie contract. If Washington is looking to unload salary this summer but wants to keep their draft pick, I would be thrilled if they’d give us McGee to take Etan Thomas’ contract. I might take Nick Young also (he’s what McCants would be if McCants were a few inches taller, a bit smarter of a player, and not a thug), but I’d be thrilled if they’d give us McGee. Of course, if McGee were traded just to get rid of Etan's undesirable contract, the brick coming out of all our butts would be mighty painful.

From what I hear, the Wizards aren't nearly as worried about their financial situation as people believe, and they think they can hang onto that high draft pick and add that player to their core of Jamison, Butler and Arenas.

Mike Jones, Wizards Outlet So.....let's not hit the 'sky is falling' panic button just yet.

Larry Hughes Discussion The quest to trade Larry Hughes continues and the most promising...

Larry Hughes Discussion The quest to trade Larry Hughes continues and the most promising destination still appears to be Washington for forward Etan Thomas and guard Mike James. Thomas is injured, but that hardly matters. James, a 6-4 scoring guard, might be a personality risk. He's played on eight teams in the past six seasons. If that wasn't enough of a red flag, his family appeared on a recent episode of "Supernanny." Let's just say if James takes coaching advice in basketball as well as he took parenting advice from Supernanny, the Bulls would be in for some headaches. I'm hearing there are other possibilities for Hughes, but my idea of sending him to Sacramento for Mikki Moore and Kenny Thomas appears to have no legs. Chicago Bulls beat writer Mike McGraw in his daily blog update [Ed. Note: There were two different Fan Shots and one Fan Post on the Larry Hughes possibility - I'm promoting this FS to the front page for discussion and deleting the other two - Truth] UPDATE: Mike Jones of the Washington Times says that this deal is not likely.
