Ivan Carter Is Leaving Us

Breaking news from Dan Steinberg and the DC Sports Bog: Wiz beat reporter, Ivan Carter, is getting out of the newspaper biz and into the television biz, but will still be local, landing a gig with Comcast Sports Net. Let Bullets Forever be some of the first to say congrats to Ivan and wish him well. Overall, he really provided us with top notch coverage of our Wiz. Michael Lee will be covering the beat for the rest of the season. Head over to the Sports Bog for more details.

Sure, vets like Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler and Darius Songaila seem to truly care and bring a professional effort. while the young guys simply don't really know what is happening around them. But the overall body language and attitude stinks. ... Put it this way: Judging from the mood in that locker room after the game last night, it was impossible to tell whether I'm covering a 41-11 team or an 11-41 team. As one injured vet told me recently: "Losing is a habit like anything else. Once it sets in, guys can start to get used to it." Still, the entire thing is still a little shocking. As one scout said to me last night: "I've seen this team a bunch and I know it has injuries but I just can't imagine that a team with Butler and Jamison can be this bad."

Ivan Carter Once Again Bashing the Young Players and Their Attitudes

What does this mean for Wizards Insider coverage on WashingtonPost.com?

As reported by the Washington City Paper: The belt keeps tightening around the newsroom budget of the Washington Post. Following a stretch that featured the killing of the Sunday Source and Book World, newsroom administration on Tuesday announced perhaps a bigger no-brainer: Staffers at the paper will no longer get paid extra for doing chats and blogs on washingtonpost.com. Not to call Ivan Carter (or Michael Lee) out, but we all must wonder what this means to the currently dedicated, and timely, coverage of the Wiz via Wizards Insider. Us bloggers essentially commit ourselves to the "trade" for nothing. Uhh....you guys' move? Just saying.

Butler's dunk on Kevin Martin was No. 1. Nick Young's dunk on LeBron was No. 2. Caron's game-winner in the playoffs is 3 following by Stevenson's game winner in New Orleans. At five, give me the win at Boston. At six, I'll take Haywood's classic response to LeBron James being a crybaby. At 7, I'll take the dunk Andres Nocioni threw down over Oleksiy Pecherov. When Chicago's game operations folks put a picture of Stewey from Family Guy over Pecherov's face on the replay, I lost it. At 8, I'll go with the game itself and Butler's 40-point performace in Milwaukee on Jan. 27 (just an incredible game to see live). At 9, I'll go with two games in Miami when I got to watch the Heat dancers perform from only a few feet away. (The Miami Heat dancers: where amazing happens). And at 10, give me the Nov. 2 game in Boston when Kevin Garnett and the new-look Celtics made their first regular season appearance. Just a great atmosphere.

The Top 10 moments of the Wizards' season, according to Ivan Carter. (HT: WRG)
