Marc Stein is reporting that Elton Brand is going to take a 5 year deal worth $82 million to play in Philly.
Just in case you were wondering, this most definitely does NOT make the East any easier next season. But you already knew that.
UPDATE: It looks like the other big name Clipper is off the market as well. The L.A. Times is reporting that Corey Maggette will be going to Golden State for 5 years/$50 million.
Looks like he's getting the full MLE.
Pietrus would have been a nice option to sign to play behind Caron Butler, but he's obviously going to take the guaranteed starting shooting guard job in Orlando. I'm not sure I would have given him the full MLE, so a part of me is relieved. We can find someone who can get the job done behind Butler for less money.
HT: Third Quarter Collapse.
Five years and 65 million. I'm not sure I like this development, because it officially opens up a spot for Arenas on the Warriors. They can't offer Gilbert any more money, but with Baron out of the fold, Arenas has to become their top option.
