Maybe Eddie should Melo out a little

Well I guess someone was bound to say this after Carmelo's 49 point outburst, might as well have been the coach:

Wizards coach Eddie Jordan wasn't particularly pleased to have been a part of Anthony's big night.

"The end part of that game was a little bit on the classless side," Jordan said. "You know, we all have our ways. You get your butt kicked, the other team can do what they want to do, but I thought it was very classless how they closed the game out. But again, I have my opinion; I can say what I wanna say. That's what I thought it was."

I swapped an e-mail with Jeremy of Pickaxe and Roll about the issue last night and I basically said that I didn't have a problem with it.  If the Nuggets decide that they want to keep Melo on the court to preserve the lead and he takes the opportunity to try and go for 50, then it's the Wizards' job to step up and try and keep him from getting there, not to whine about feeling disrespected.

Anyway, that's my two cents on the issue, by all means feel free to disagree.  If you didn't get to see the game and you enjoy inflicting pain on yourself you can check out the highlights for yourself and form your own opinion:

Wasn't a brawl started over this before?
I remember Isiah yelling something to Carmelo in the 4th quarter of a blowout and before you knew it, Jared Jeffries was throwing punches.  Eddie Jordan seems much more levelheaded than Isiah, so it makes Eddie's statement a little more weighty.

On the other hand, it wasn't a huge blowout, even though it felt like it was.  The Wizards are capable of erasing an 11 point deficit in less than 2 minutes, so it wasn't outrageous to keep the starters in.

So, I can see both sides.  I don't think calling it "a little bit on the classless side" is going too far.
