It's Entertaining, but Is It Smart?

In Gil's blog on NBA.com, he's talking about getting 50 in the Portland game on Feb. 11.  Of course this goes back to Team USA, where Mike D'Antoni of the Suns and Nate McMillan of the Blazers were assistant coaches.

But this isn't really a good idea is it?  To keep talking about this?

I mean, if he gets 50, it raises the question of why he doesn't do it all the time, and furthermore the question of team play.  If he doesn't get 50, then, well, he doesn't get 50, even though he said he was going to.  It's a no-win situation.

No one doubts that a little extra motivation helps, and Gil is the king of using 'perceived disrepect' as extra motivation, but this one is getting out of hand.

This represents the view of the user who wrote the FanPost, and not the entire Bullets Forever community. We're a place of many opinions, not just one.

In a word...no
I'm actually surprised that Arenas even mentioned the Portland game...it's very far off, and he downplayed his comments before the first Suns game.  Maybe scoring 54 on the Suns renewed his vigor.

I really hope it was just a joke, because otherwise, I agree with you.  This happened so long ago, he already apologized to D'Antoni and McMillan, and it is a no-win situation.
