Chad Ford is keeping a dynamic ranking of every team's off-season moves. It's Insider, so I'll mention we were #4 until Dallas pulled off the Marion deal, now we're #5. Goes to show some people like the deal.

Top 5: SAS (best), LAC, DET, DAL, WAS

Today's trade idea: DeShawn Stevenson to Denver for Steven Hunter

Today's trade idea: DeShawn Stevenson to Denver for Steven Hunter

This isn't my idea, it's actually one from a poster on the Wizards' Real GM Board.

PROS:
-Wizards swap Stevenson for a 2010 expiring contract and get their emergency fifth big
-Denver gets a replacement for Dahntay Jones, who just signed with Indiana

CONS:
-Stevenson makes more annually than Jones (though less in total when you factor in the four-year commitment Jones got from Indiana)
-It's not clear whether Hunter can actually play anymore, having played just 19 games in 2007/08 and none this year

The fact that McDyess signs a 3 yr 15 mil deal with San Antonio tells me that he thinks they are still contenders. I think a problem in this league is the Wizards, who are not budging on the idea that their core will lead them to deep playoff success, are not considered contenders by the general NBA public. 3 yrs at 15 would've been a good deal, and make him somewhat tradeable in the future for the value he adds to any team, or buyoutability.

Mike Lee's List of Free Agents

Better Late than Never, Mike Lee swoops in with his list of perspective bigs. They are: Fabricio Oberto, Rasho Nesterovic, Channing Frye, Sean Marks, Jamaal Magloire, Chris Wilcox and Brian Skinner. I wonder if his sources are Bullets Forever, lol, because his second tier is Adonal Foyle, Pops Mensa-Bonsu or D-League standout Courtney Sims. Free agents from summer league rosters, including their own, are not out of the equation. So, there is an opportunity, albeit slight, for Gonzaga forward Josh Heytvelt.

I usually think about these for less than a minute, so they're pretty rough on the edges and may be overly lopsided either way.

Personally, I've come around on Rasho. Collins is a decent body, but statistics indicate he's just as bad of a rebounder as Darius Songaila, while a MUCH worse passer and offensive player.

Magloire? Yuck. He makes Andray Blatche's hustle and motivation look like Matt Harping's.

And Frye? He's an absolutely terrible defender ... yet a decent offensive option.

But I'm curious as to what you guys think, chop away ...
