Oh man
That was a thrilling victory, to say the least.

I assume this means we can stop talking about Juan Carlos Navarro now.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Just curious
Was Tyson Chandler the first player in Hornets franchise history to foul out after 8 personals?

DAGGER! Cant Feel It
YES! Damn this squad needed this win and it was a great team effort. Everyone scrapped, Brendan, Twan, and Deshawn won it down the stretch. Taser had some great minutes in crunch time on the defensive end and Daniels took care off the ball.

Brendan draws a huge late charge on David West. The call was way more questionable than his game deciding foul on LeBulldoze. West has only made the All Star once or he gets the block there like the LeBulldoze.

Wiz win a close game against a better team than them, PINCH ME!

What? They don't have TV in the D-League? Don't watch me, watch TV.

So unexpected-
I thought the wiz were going to get crushed. I like it when the Wiz prove me wrong. I only got home when it was tied 88-88 and of course I changed the channel as to not jinx the outcome so I've been relying on highlights of the game. Finally we win a close game, lots of courage on Deshawn's part - playing through the pain and coming up so big. Jamison with six steals on a bad shooting night is big too. Sounds like they had another game with contributions from everyone as well. Also Atlanta and Indiana both lost too which is good for us.

Quick! Check si.com
One of the headlines reads "Hornets Top Wizards." Ha!  It's underneath a picture of T-Mac on the left.  When you click on it, it takes you to the (accurate) box score.

SI still can't get it right.
They still have that headline on SI.com.  The wording changed a bit though... it now says "Hornets drop Wizards".

What an exciting game!  Even my friend (Cavs fan) was pumped watching the game.  I was totally expecting us to get blown out, but we hung in there courageously and pulled one out.  We needed this win badly.

This is just sad

Having it up 12 minutes after the game is understandable, having it up 12 hours after the fact is just lame.

YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I saw most of the 4th quarter, and what a quarter it was. We were down 4 points when I flipped the TV on, and we just hung in there. DeShawn was awesome, just going to the basket with authority. BTH dominated the last few minutes on the boards, even before Chandler fouled out, and made that great defensive play on West -- and chipped in with big points on the other end.  Once again, mad props to Dave Hopla, as the Wiz get outplayed in every area except the foul line and still win the game, and BTH converts in the clutch.

I was pretty annoyed when Jamison gave Armstrong that 3rd foul shot to tie the game, but DeShawn made it all better. What a shot. What a game.

Much funnier than the "Dagger"
I didn't notice until I watched this replay, but Buck's exasperated "Unbelievable" after the lane violation call was hilarious. It was like an angry kid finding out Xmas had been cancelled.

APROPROS
What a perfect time for a dagger. Sure, the Dagger has been worn a bit thin, maybe you and your friends say "dagger" when someone accidentally calls his wife another woman's name in the midst of lovemaking, or maybe you too think Buckhantz is a bit too quick to throw one out there like when Deshawn dunked that time against the C's, or maybe you are tired of Buck in general, but there was something about this team needing a jolt, needing a boost now that they are down, needing Buckhantz to resort to a good ole truism when the time called for it.

trying...
I sent a mention of the headline goof to Ian Thomsen's mailbag at si.com.  He's the only basketball columnist I found that could be contacted in any way at all.  Couldn't find any other email addresses on the whole of the site.  Care to join me?

Mcguire = Pick n roll Buster
Stevenson and Haywood definitely deserve the bulk of the credit, but I can't get over DM's defense. On several occasions, NO ran high pick n rolls w Chris Paul and whoever DM was guarding (I think it was D. West). The Wiz countered with a simple switch, sending Stevenson on West and leaving Mcguire out on top against Paul, one of the fastest PGs w/ the ball in his hands. On at least two occasions, CP3 cleared everyone out, but COULD NOT get around DM and was forced to pass. After that God awful Knick game, any pick n roll defense success from this team is a joy.

BTW: Brendan, however, is still the league's worst PnR defender. The man just can't do it.

Totally agree
You stole my thunder for the post-game recap.  DeShawn was big, but D-Mac was arguably bigger for his defense and rebounding.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Holy Crap!
This is great for us. Poor Houston - this was Yao and McGrady's year to possibly get out of the first round.

by ooba on Feb 26, 2008 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

Clarification
I'm actually a little bummed Yao is hurt.  The post was because it means the Wiz' chances of winning a back-to-back just shot through the roof.
