Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Well that didn't take long...

Remember when Hollinger said the Wizards would only get 33 wins this year?  Based on his new Playoff Odds tracker, it looks like he's changed his mind.  According to the predictor, it looks like the Wizards now have a 98.6% chance of making the playoffs this year, with a projected record of 44-38.

You saucy bastard, you.

John Hollinger
IS AN ASS. Someone on the Wizards impregnated his sister or something (Blatche). That guy hates the Wizards. We will be fine. I dont listen to a word that guy says.

Half the fans in the league feel the same way
Followers of the Nets, the Raptors, the Clippers, etc etc were furious about his preseason predictions too, so unless fifty different players offended his family, I don't think he has it out especially for the Wiz. It's just the nature of the predicting biz.

Just curious--if you don't like Hollinger, what analyst-type do you think gets it right?  Besides Jake and Prada, obviously.

I'm not the prognosticator
Just for the sake of showing how bad I am at this, an update to my update of my predicted sleepers from the '07 Draft:

  • Derrick Byars - Released by the Sixers (Of course he had an unfair disadvantage since Billy King was his GM).  Now he's playing with the Koeln 99ers.
  • Morris Almond - Just sent down to D-League to play with the Utah Flash.
  • Demetris Nichols - Released by the Knicks, and now he just got released again by the Cavs thanks to Anderson Varejao.
  • Marko Tomas - Undrafted.  He's still with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada.
  • Jared Jordan - Drafted by the Clippers, traded to the Knicks, and released.  You can find him playing with BC Lietuvos Rytas.

All in all, Hollinger is great analyst.  That's what makes it so fun the few times he's wrong.

Good question...
Honestly, I do think that the Hollinger stats are interesting. My only problem with him is it seems as though he plays major favorites. You cant argue with a lot of his numbers...he picked the Spurs all year and it happened. Although they were awesome at the end last year, not a lot of people were with them ALL year like he was.

It just seems as though he never gives the Wiz their due respect. Even when they were first in the east, he was dogging on them.

I think we hung around 18th in his rankings most of the time last year, and that was followed by him saying something negative about the team. I may be wrong but I dont remember reading a lot of love for the Wizards coming from Hollinger.

As for analyst types that I like, not many, but I like the 82games guys better than Hollinger.

To be fair
Hollinger's rankings are based on pure mathematics, and I remember saying a lot of the same things he was while we were playing well last year (e.g. this isn't sustainable, we're susceptible to injury).

I do agree that something he comes across as a bit pretentious, but otherwise, I think he's great.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
