Michael Beasley

If I'm not mistaken, we might have one roster spot left. Does anyone think grabbing Michael Beasley, a local product with ridiculous talent, might be worth at least a camp invite? I just read an article in Sports Illustrated about Curtis Malone of the AAU program DC Assult and how he's now in jail for drug distribution, and there is a lot in there about how he and Beasley are tied together. That ongoing drama might explain some of Beasley's mental problems. Could coming home to DC help settle him down? People pointed to the fact that if he can't be mentored by LeBron James or Dwayne Wade, he might be a lost cause. I actually don't think James is the more open guy when it comes to mentoring young players. He just wants to be surrounded by his boys like Mike Miller and James Jones.

I understand all the drama Beasley brings, but the talent is there and the race for the top 4 in the East I think comes down to Cleveland, Washington, Miami (yes, they are still good), and Chicago. Any ace in the hold could be the difference. Right now I believe there is a need for more depth at the 3 spot because I suspect Paul Pierce won't be playing grind it out minutes so Beasley could add some depth behind him and Porter. With Martell Webster out there is some need for scoring, particularly off the bench if we can get it. The 2/3 depth right now is Porter and Glen Rice Jr with Webster out. What if Pierce gets hurt? They have to manage his minutes anyways. What would be the harm in a one year, $1 million deal to see what he can do?

Thoughts?
