Let's get straight to the point. Ted Leonsis is not building an NBA Championship Team. He said he wants to build a "perennial playoff team." Yay! We want Second Place in the East! (maybe we can make up a banner like we did with the Mystics to hang at the Verizon Center).
That is why even though NBA playoff analysts were saying the Wizards have the best young back court in the NBA, there is ZERO chatter about the free agent big boys coming to play for the Washington Wizards.
The funniest thing about Ted Leonsis looking for a consistent revenue stream by being a "perennial playoff team," is that it is estimated that Lebron James is worth $70million a year EXTRA to whatever team he is going to play for. Wouldn't you think that good 'ol Ted would at least kick the tires to see if there was a chance for that happening.
Telling the world that he just wants to resign our own veterans (even though Gortat has not even been in DC for a whole calendar year) is really short sighted.
It's too bad because we could have tried to sign a marquee free agent or young guys to fill the roster instead of old veterans who one day soon will be "playing old" in front of us fans. Nothing like geting the worst from old players yet paying them a premium price.
