We all love to trash Ernie Grunfeld for some of the ridiculous things he's done over the years, but I think it's time to man up and say, "Thanks Ern. You're doing a great job and building a team the right way."
Rashard Lewis? Who's that? Oakariza? Worked out fine! The Three Burritos? Long forgotten.
We all felt that the Arenas team had a ceiling. And they were too juvenile to ever really win anything.
Ernie has built this new team, with a bunch of guys who work hard, don't goof off, and do the right thing. John Wall and Brad Beal are ours for a decade. I can now forget the Jon Peter Ramoses, and the DeJuan Blair debacle, and Tomas! Oh, Tomas!
Luring Al Harrington and then Paul Pierce is such an awesome development. No, they're not going to drop 30 points or take over a game. That doesn't matter. They could have played for contenders and they chose us. I feel just as good today as the day we closed out the Bulls in the playoffs.
The future is bright, and Ernie deserves credit for that. I just want to say, "I appreciate you, Ern." Matter of fact, I might even stop making jokes about you. It has been so great watching this team get built from the ground up, and we all have to admit that Ernie made some really smart moves to get us to this point.
