Fast forward to 2016 the year the wiz win it all. Top paid players on the team will be Durant, Beal and Wall all maxed out. Also Gortat will get 12 million in the 3rd year of his 60 million dollar contract. Doing the math here makes our salary cap number between these 4 players in the neighborhood of 22 +15 + 15 + 12 = 64 million.
How can we pay Durant the max to come if we sign Ariza for 10 million. That would put our number at 74 million for 5 players. Personally I think Ariza is the best defender on the team who can guard any 2 or 3 in the league. At the same time there just would not be any money left over for anyone descent in 2016. Even if we cut Porter and Webster we go down from 84 to 74 million and I don't know how good Ariza will be in year 3. With Durant in town we would be paying Ariza 10 million to be a bench player behind the league MVP. This does not make sense.
If we sign Ariza, we lose KD in 2016. I Can't do it!!!!!
So we got to sign an older vet on a 2 year deal or a good younger player on a cheaper 3-4 year deal. Like I posted before a couple of guys who would sign 2 year deals would be Paul Pierce and Shawn Marion. My order is Pierce 2 years, P.J. Tucker 3 years, Evan Turner 3 years and Shawn Marion 2 years. I put Marion last because he can't get to the free throw line. I think we should make a big push for Pierce because the drop off to the other 3 is noticeable and Turner and Tucker are going to want a contract more than 2 years.
Pierce has a nice 3 point shot and is a high IQ player. The passing would be awesome. Teams would not be able to cheat off of Beal or Pierce when Wall and Gortat run the PnR If we don't sign Ariza then I fully expect us to grab 1 of these 4 players. None of the 4 would break the bank annually or hold the team hostage with a large contract 3-4 years from now.
All would be set for the wiz 2016 championship if we don't win any before.
