Evaluating Ernie Grunfield's Drafting of Foreign Players. It's a Crying Shame.

Out of the 6 foreign players that Ernie Grunfield has drafted for the Wizards, not one of them has made even a small contribution to the Wizards, unless their rights were traded. And yet, the team that traded for them did not get any contribution either.

All you got to do is look at our roster. Only one foreign player, Kevin Seraphin, is on the team that we drafted, and we have been developing him for 4 years. He couldn't even get on the court in the playoffs. 900 year old dudes, Al Harrington and Derrick Coleman (excuse me I meant Drew Gooden) were getting all the backup big man playing time.

How about our great 2006 Draft where we took two foreign players? Oleksiy Pecherov in the first round and Vladimir Veremeenko in the 2nd round. Both were total Busts in the NBA (even though we traded the rights to Veremeenko for Kirk Hinrich). Why did we even participate in the draft process in 2006? Kinda sucks that Rajon Rondo and Kyle Lowry both went within 6 picks after Pecherov.

2011 will go down as another chance to get a really, really good player in Kawhi Leonard or Klay Thompson (my choice at the time). Instead we go for Jan Vesely. Now that sucked.

I could save the Wizards alot of time. Whatever their budget for scouting foreign players they have it should automatically be deposited into my bank account. They will not save money but will save time, and it will ensure Ernie makes no more foreign player picks at the draft.

Lets hope this Tomas Satoransky can come in sometime in the future and contribute. Has anyone seen Nemanja Bjelica?
