A story on ESPN is reporting that Sacramento & Detroit are discussing a trade that would add Josh Smith to the Kings frontcourt of DeMarcus Cousins & Rudy Gay. The Kings would probably do that deal in a heartbeat considering most free agents aren't lining up to go to Sacramento, just like they were eager to take on Gay's massive contract because they basically had to if they wanted to land a marketable name. If that trade does happen then Detroit definitely matches any deal for Greg Monroe, which Van Gundy is reportedly high on him anyway. On the bright side, Sacramento would be my second option on NBA 2K behind the Wizards.
Reportedly, the Kings could send Jason Thompson & Derrick Williams to Detroit for the exchange, basically chump change. The story mentions that Smith only has 3 years & 40 million left on his deal which actually doesn't sound too bad considering I thought Smith's deal was a lot longer & a lot more money than that. Maybe it's a team option that he has or maybe the printing is wrong but if the contract is accurate then I would like to see the Wiz get involved in potential talks. I would nab a center on a 1 year deal & make the move for Smith & move Nene to the bench or the starting center position.
