Washington Title Hopes Probably Shouldn’t Rest on John Wall and Bradley Beal

Really interesting article by Alexander "Lexie" Barza on the Wages of Wins website.

While any single metric used to evaluate player performance has its flaws and limitations, and Wins Produced is no different, but I do think looking at the Wizards from different objective analytical perspectives raises some interesting points. In this case, it shows that the biggest contributors to the Wizards 2014 season success were our two big free agents this summer - Trevor Ariza and Marcin Gortat - not Wall and Beal. While not a completely surprising result, from what I subjectively observed on the court this season, it was clear TA and MG were definitely part of our success formula, but not at the level this metric indicates.

He also goes on to project into the future saying that, while Wall and Beal can be contributing pieces, they are not the foundation from which a championship can be built. I'm not sure I fully agree with that assessment, but I do think we are one more superstar caliber piece from being a legitimate contender.
