We have got some decisions to make this offseason. Specifically with Ariza and Gortat.
I don't know about the rest of you but as much as I have loved watching both Ariza and Gortat help us immensely this season I don't think we should resign them. Sure, these guys can get us to the playoffs for the next few seasons but I'm not satisfied with being bounced out in the 1st, 2nd or even eastern conference finals round. I want to support a legitimate championship contender. And ultimately with the price Ariza and Gortat will cost us and at their age they won't lead us to a championship.
At SF I would rather have Otto get the valuable playing time and experience he needs to develop properly. Throw him into the fire. It has helped Wall and Beal previously. Wittman clearly will play the vets over the young guys even in blowouts until the final minute. Ariza needs to go if Otto is going to develop. Otto is also going to be much more beneficial to our future at a cheaper price.
Regarding Gortat, simply we need a star bigman. As good as Nene has been playing recently he doesn't play this well often. He is way too injury prone, old and expensive. We can't afford to have both our starting bigs as 'decent', old and expensive players. Need a younger player who is either a specialist athletic defensive stud or a consistent superstar offensive threat.
Because I want a legit championship contender, I am suggesting saving the money and investing it in other star players when the opportunity presents itself either this offseason or the next ones. But if your happy with just being in the playoffs and maybe, maybe getting lucky and advancing to the ECF or NBA finals then by all means make Ariza and Gortat a priority.
The point of building up a team is to win the big one!
