I'm getting a little worried just from my own anecdotal experience that Verizon Center may have a lot of empty seats come Friday and Sunday. The additional ticket prices on Ticketmaster for this game to season ticket holders had a 300% increase from the last round. Factor in speculators trying to make money and tickets are sky high.
Because of a last second going away party, I have been trying to offload my extra tickets I bought at face value and have found no takers at this point. A cursory glance at Stubhub shows a massive amount of inventory. I just don't think that DC is ready to support ticket prices that high and I am worried Monumental made a very big miscalculation in setting prices high to cut the fat from the speculators.
I've talked to a few long time friends who bought last round and they said they got better seats for the money and splurged on the first round since it had been so long and now do not have the funds to purchase more tickets at the current price levels. This seems pretty common.
Unless everyone who bought tickets is willing to take a bath and do so early enough that people can buy them, I am worried that we just won't have the crowd we are looking for and may have inadvertently priced all the true fans out. I guess time will tell.
