I just noticed Memphis entered into a single team affiliation with the D-League's Iowa Energy (with a snazilly updated Grizz-colored logo to bat) last week, which means the team is now without a D-League home (again). The Suns, Knicks, and Pistons have also recently established ties to a team of their own. So of course I'm wondering, what's taking Ted so long?
Given this franchise's lackluster ability to develop draft picks, I find it puzzling that 4 years into the Leonsis Era, there still hasn't been any real investment in the D-League. I also don't see that changing anytime soon. We'll probably end up getting tied to the Idaho Stampede or some other team that's 1,000+ miles away, and watch yet another draft pick (#46) waste away on the bench next season.
Seriously, Ted. What's the strategy here? Is there any strategy?
