I have resolved to support the Wizards without reservation until this series is over. Until the last minute in whatever game it is - I will believe that the Wiz will win. After 30 years of bad basketball and fake contenders (at best!) we finally have a team that plays real defense and CAN play effective offense. As a result, we are in round 2, precisely where our seeding says we should be in this series, down 1-2, getting ready to even it up at home tomorrow.
Last night was tough. The crowd was a bit tame (and late arriving) in the beginning, but quickly got into it. We were stunned the entire second half, and the team seemed to be stunned too -- chicken, egg? The booing at the end was pretty tame and lame. Sunday, I'm going to yell for them and watch them take back the narrative of this series. That's the beauty of the playoffs - with which we have so little experience - one game can change everything.
Until this series is over, I'm going to believe in the Wizards. They are the first team since the Webber, Howard, Wallace days that has the potential to be legit. So, I'm putting off the recriminations and the thinking about the future. We can beat Indiana. Not sure that we should, but we could. And go to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Wizards. In the ECF! And that's why, I'm gonna believe in Johhny Wallstar, Big Panda, Brazilian Jesus, the Polish Hammer, and neither last nor any where close to least, Lord Athreeza. Bring it home tomorrow ... GO WIZ!!
