Nene is great, however, his health is only going to get worse in the final two years of his contract. Looking at other teams that might have a need for him, phoenix caught my eye. They seem to be in more of a win now mode than rebuilding, unlike many predicted. With the two teams current salary cap situations, the most practical trade would be Nene for Markieff Morris and Channing Frye. We would be shipping out 13 mil and taking back 10 mil(Frye: 6.8 mil. Morris: 3.2 mil).
This season, Morris is averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds per 36 minutes. He displays the potential to be a very solid NBA power-forward, however, not a great one with all-star potential. He has shown improvement each year in the league, which is also very promising. Morris has the ability to score from anywhere on the floor, shooting 30% from 3 and developing a reliable mid range j. He also has the ability to score in the post, despite lacking a refined arsenal of post moves. He would be a very good pick and roll partner with John due to his midrange prowess and good finishing ability and athleticism. He will be on the last year of his rookie contract in 2014-2015, allowing the wiz to see his improvements and chemistry with the team before resigning him if they so chose to. I personally am a big fan of Morris. I really like what he is doing in Phoenix, proving he can produce as a complimentary player when surrounded by legitimate talent. With John as his pg, I think Morris could really surprise some people.
Like Morris, Frye would be on contract only for the 2014-2015 season. At this point, we know what kind of player he is and how he will contribute. He is a big with elite shooting ability. If he played well here, the wiz could resign him to a smaller contract as a backup big who can score.
If any of you have any ideas on trades for Nene, please share.
