John Wall has had a pretty productive seven days on the basketball floor.
So productive in fact that the Washington Wizards point guard was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Dec. 8-14. (The Houston Rockets James Harden was named the Western Conference Player of the Week too, if you care about that sort of thing.)
During the week's four games, Wall averaged 18.3 points, a league-leading 11.8 assists and 2.5 steals. He also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over the span, shooting 54.2 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
Oh, and the Wizards also posted a 4-0 record over those four games, beating the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz. The Chicago Bulls were the only other Eastern Conference team to go undefeated (3-0) last week.
Perhaps the most memorable game was on Dec. 8, when Wall tallied 26 points, 17 assists, seven rebounds and three steals in an emotional double-overtime win vs. the Celtics.
The Wizards are now second overall in the Eastern Conference at 17-6 and just a half-game behind the top Toronto Raptors (18-6). The squad is also now 11 games over .500 for the first time since April 2005. Yes, that says 2005. Not bad for a team that has long struggled to be considered even mediocre.
Furthermore, while Wall has been averaging 12.8 assists per game in December, the Wizards have gone 7-1.
And if you aren't sick of John Wall stats yet, he leads the point guard field with 14 double doubles on the season and is tied with Chicago's Pau Gasol and Orlando's Nikola Vucevic among all players. But wait, we thought he couldn't play point guard...
By the way, Wall beat out Atlanta's Al Horford and Toronto's Jonas Valaciunas for the Eastern Conference honor, his fourth since entering the NBA and first since November 2013.
(No, you aren't having déjà vu - Wall and Harden shared the NBA Players of the Week honors in March 2013.)
It's no wonder fans at the Verizon Center have been serenading the 24-year-old baller with MVP chants.
Keep it, Wall-Star.
