Magical Pixels, Wizards vs. Warriors: Washington again done in by awful third quarter

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

A dreadful third quarter led to a blowout Washington Wizards loss for the second straight game. Me thinks the team should focus on getting off to a better start in the second half.

Man, this team. The Washington Wizards entered halftime of last night's home contest tied with the Golden State Warriors, who entered the game as the NBA's hottest team and winners of eight straight.

But in classic #SoWizards fashion, Washington got beaten into pulp in the third quarter for the second consecutive game. Friday against the Toronto Raptors, the Wizards were outscored by 20 in the third quarter. Against Golden State, the Warriors began the third quarter on a 30-5 run that essentially ended the game and handed the Wizards their third consecutive home loss after reaching .500 for the second time this season. The first time the Wiz reached .500, they proceeded to lose four in a row; Washington will have to defeat the Charlotte Bobcats on the road Tuesday night to avoid doing so again.

By the way, if he wasn't before, Bradley Beal is officially slumping. He shot 4-for-15 last night, and has gone 14-of-44 since New Year's. Yuck.
