As wizards fans, we have all had many ideas on how to improve the team since Wall came into town.
One of my many ideas (good and bad) was (if Jonas Valanciunas wasn't available) in the 2011 draft was to trade down, acquire as many picks as possible and draft 2 College Seniors with no upside (Chandler Parsons and Jimmy Butler) and a Euro with a difficult buyout contract (Nikola Mirotic). Ideas like that.
So, even though the Wizards are a possible playoff team this year, how optimistic can you be of this current roster at the present time, or in the future?
So, if you were given complete control of the basketball operations of the wizards, right of this moment, what would you do, realistic or extreme?
A random idea i would throw out there is to trade
Nene/Ariza for Pau Gasol.
Why do the deal?
This move would help the Wizards now and in the future.
It gets Nene off the books for years to come, that's a positive. I think once Gasol gets out of LA (and Mike D), he will start playing back to his old self. Singleton and NBA Ready (Otto Porter) can take up for Ariza's minutes and hopefully make up for his production.
Lakers may consider it because they get Ariza back to start at SF, Ariza has an expiring deal, Nene has a cheaper contract (per year) than Gasol, and Nene's contract ends the same time as Kobe. Also, Nene wouldn't take shots away from Kobe, so Kobe would love to play with him. I don't know if the Lakers would consider it, but it would be worth a shot.
What would you do? Thoughts, Answers, Solutions, etc?
