What comes first? (The chicken) DC starts buzzing about this young team, the crowds at the Verizon Center begin to swell, which leads to the team taking the "next step" that we all so desperately want to see from this group led by Zero-to-Sixty, John Wall? Or, (the egg) we have been fooled with false hope for too long and need Ted/Ernie/Randy/Wall to prove to us that this is more than a mediocre team in a depleted conference before we turn this into Wizards City?
I'm the chicken and I figure most people on here are as well, but I know the answer to my above question is that the rest of the city are mostly eggs. I've been living in DC for about 6 years and been a Wizards fan since. I realize there have been many years of mediocrity, disappointment, and sometimes downright lunacy (i.e. Gil/Crittenton) prior to this teams assemblage. But this group seems to be embracing the turnaround. I remember John Wall's rookie season when he would be thrust the microphone in front of the Verizon Center crowd after a game, he always made a point to thank the fans for supporting the team through the rebuilding process. He has also always made it known that he had no desire to explore opportunities outside of the District (and he put pen to paper on that one), while many other stars in the League embrace exploring free agency.
Hopefully the team can start turning other eggs into chickens. My question for the group is, what would this take? Playing better at home? Competing in a first round playoff series? Does the team actually have to win a playoff series before the rest of the city joins us???
