We already know that Bradley Beal won't compete for the Washington Wizards' Summer League team out in Las Vegas starting on Saturday, but there now appears to be a chance that he won't suit up during the Team USA minicamp from July 22-25 either. That's according to Beal himself, who spoke to reporters following the Wizards' first pre-Summer League mini-camp practice on Monday.

Beal said Coach K wants him out in Vegas even if he can't play in USA practice. Beal says he plans 2 B in Vegas w Wiz during SL anyway.

That Beal is cleared to run is encouraging, and the truth is that he didn't need to play in Summer League anyway given all he accomplished last season. However, if he cannot play in the Team USA mini-camp, it will have been four months since he suffered the injury. That's a long time, even if the Wizards are being cautious.
