CONTRACT YEAR! It is nervous time for NBA Players and for all players in every sport. This is ME time. Brendan Haywood
went from 7.3 Rebounds a game to 10.3 his contract year (He then went back to 7.4 after HE GOT PAID by Dallas- Hahaha- Suckers!)
will be BALLING this year. He is not going to care about the development of Otto Porter
or Martell Webster
. Trevor is going to want to be on the floor. This is his second Contract Year so he knows whats at stake. I am not saying he will be a bad teammate, but millions and millions of dollars is at stake for him. He will be 29 years old next year. Depending on his year this year, I see him getting anywhere from Eric Maynor
money upwards of the full MLE (Martell's contract).
Coach Wittman is also in the final year of his contract. He needs to win or he will be an Assistant Coach probably for the rest of his coaching career. He happened to be in the perfect situation to get his present gig. This is Coach Wittman's 3rd chance as a Head Coach. He hasn't been successful to this point. No playoffs this year, SIYANORA, and I am sure Flip will have an assistants job in Minnesota waiting for him.
The Tug of War between the front office and Coach Wittman's staff could be very tense. Is Randy Wittman
willing to sit the #3 pick in the draft for long stretches of time? What if Otto Porter plays decent? Ariza will demand playing time. (Martell already has his money). How is Randy going to handle that situation? What if Porter does not play well? The Front Office is still going to want him to get minutes. Coach Wittman needs to win now! What if Nerls Noel or anyone taken after Otto starts flat out balling? The Wizards
front office is going to demand Otto play more. What will Coach Wittman do?
One of the easy answers about Trevor Ariza is to trade him. So far no trade partners and I do not think there will be any until the trade deadline because of how much Trevor is owed. I am very curious how Randy Wittman will be handling HIS CONTRACT YEAR. Good luck Randy.
