With around 2 hours left until the start of the Draft, I have been browsing all of the Basketball news sites that I know of, searching for news of trades for either of the first two picks that may influence who we draft. I stumbled upon a report that the Jazz may be looking to part ways with C Enes Kanter in hopes to move up in the Draft. Some of you may or may not have read my previous post on Derrick Favors, but in my opinion this team is one solid young big away from becoming a contender down the road. If this report holds true and the Jazz are looking at either Burke, Mclemore, or Oladipo, we could be a trade partner. Although I would prefer Favors as I think he has more upside and potential, Kanter has very good potential and is a year younger. If we were able to pull this off, it would mean that we have 2 years to evaluate him in our system to determine whether or not we should give him an extension. It would also mean we lose out on Porter. However, if we do end up with the 14th pick we can still acquire a solid role player, which is this draft's strength. Maybe pick up a guy like Shane Larkin or grab a wing player who slides like Shabazz Muhammed. I would definitely do this trade especially if we can retain our 2014 first in the process. If Kanter pans out we could be looking at an All-Star Center down the road.
Jazz Recieve: Pick #3, anyone not named Wall or Beal
I have been trying to make my self believe that Otto Porter is going to be the perfect player for this team, but I can't seem to do it. There is something that makes me believe he wouldn't go top 5 or maybe top 10 if it wasn't this draft. This will be our last time in the lottery for a while, and why not get a legit top 3 pick instead of settling for a player that goes top 3 in a weak draft. Your thoughts?
